Yamaha CL Feeder for SMT Machine 12mm

The Yamaha CL 12 mm Feeder is the standard mid-size variant of the CL family, designed for 12 mm-wide carrier tape carrying the next class of components above the 8 mm range. It is one of the most-used feeders on any populated Yamaha YV/YG line, second only to the 8 mm CL in typical slot count.

The 12 mm CL handles larger passives, medium-sized SOT and SOP packages, small connectors, and a wide range of LED packages — including LED 5050, 5630, 5730, 4014 lamp beads, larger electrolytics, tantalum capacitors, mid-size diodes, and similar parts that ship in 12 mm reels. Unlike the fixed-pitch 8 mm variants, the 12 mm feeder offers adjustable pitch settings of 4 mm, 8 mm, and 12 mm via a simple mechanical change (re-orienting a plate inside the feeder), which lets a single feeder body cover the full set of tape-pitch options encountered in 12 mm tape.

Operationally, it is identical in principle to the 8 mm CL — pneumatically actuated by the host machine's air supply, mechanically indexed, no motor, no electronics. The feeder is mounted on the same standard CL feeder bank as the rest of the family. On the bank, however, it has a different slot footprint: a 12 mm CL feeder typically uses 3 slots for the first feeder and 2 slots for each adjacent one, so a 12 mm-heavy setup carries fewer total part numbers than an 8 mm-heavy one — the trade-off for accepting larger components.

The feeder accepts reels up to 15″ / 382 mm on its integrated reel holder. Original Yamaha part numbers are in the KW1-M2200 series, with KW1-M2200-300 the most commonly listed current variant. Compatible with the legacy Yamaha YV- and YG-series mounters and Philips/Assembleon CL-platform equivalents. Available as original Yamaha or high-quality compatible clones; both are generally interchangeable in service. The pitch-adjust plate, the press cover, and the sprocket/pawl assembly are the main service items.
