Yamaha CL Feeder for SMT Machine 16mm

The Yamaha CL 16 mm Feeder is the next step up in the CL series, designed to handle 16 mm-wide carrier tape. Where the 8 mm and 12 mm feeders supply small passives and mid-size SOT/SOP/LED packages, the 16 mm CL is the natural home for SOIC, larger SOP packages, small QFP ICs, mid-size connectors, ferrite beads, larger LED packages, larger electrolytic capacitors, and tantalum capacitors that ship in 16 mm tape.

The feeder offers four-stage adjustable pitch — 4 / 8 / 12 / 16 mm — selectable mechanically by changing a plate orientation inside the body. This makes one feeder body cover the full range of 16 mm-tape pitches encountered in production, instead of requiring a different feeder for each pitch. The component-to-tape registration in the pickup window is precise enough to accommodate the wider tape and the slightly larger pickup tolerances that go with larger components.

Mechanically and pneumatically the 16 mm CL is the same platform as the rest of the family: pneumatic actuation from the host machine's air supply, ratcheted sprocket-and-pawl indexing, integrated cover-tape take-up reel, no electronics, no comms. On the feeder bank it occupies 3 slots for the first feeder and 2 slots for each adjacent one — the same footprint as the 12 mm — so wider components come at a slot-density cost compared to the 8 mm format.

Original Yamaha part numbers are in the KW1-M3200 series, with KW1-M3200-10X / -100 the most commonly stocked variants. The 16 mm CL is often identifiable by a black handle, the visual cue that distinguishes it on a populated bank. Reels up to 15″ / 382 mm are supported. Compatible with the full legacy Yamaha YV- and YG-series and Philips/Assembleon CL-platform machines. Both original Yamaha and high-quality compatible/clone versions are widely available and generally interchangeable. Service items are unchanged from the rest of the CL family: press cover, pawl/bird-beak assembly, sprocket, pitch plate, and take-up reel mechanism.
