Yamaha CL Feeder for SMT Machine 24mm

The Yamaha CL 24 mm Feeder is the standard "large-component" feeder of the CL family — the workhorse for QFP packages, larger SOIC, mid-to-large connectors, electrolytic capacitors, larger LED modules, inductors, ferrite chokes, relays, and other parts that ship in 24 mm-wide carrier tape. A populated Yamaha YV/YG line will typically carry a handful of 24 mm CL feeders alongside its larger population of 8 mm and 12 mm units, supplying the ICs and connectors that anchor the rest of the board.

Unlike the smaller 8 / 12 / 16 mm feeders, which adjust pitch by re-orienting a plate, the 24 mm CL uses a different mechanism: a sawtooth-ladder pitch adjuster that allows the part pitch to be set in 4 mm steps. After setting the cylinder position to match the tape, the operator rotates the winder drum anti-clockwise until a click is heard, which aligns the take-up pitch with the new feed pitch. The sliding plate must then be pushed forward and snapped in when the feeder is closed — a sequence that's standard practice for anyone running a CL bank.

Mechanically the 24 mm CL is the same platform as the rest of the family: ratcheted sprocket-and-pawl indexing, pneumatic actuation from the host machine's air supply, integrated cover-tape take-up reel, no motor, no electronics. On the bank, a 24 mm CL feeder uses 3 slots, and a typical machine setup can carry up to four 24 mm feeders without losing additional slots beyond the per-feeder allotment — useful planning information when designing a job's feeder layout.

The feeder accepts reels up to 15″ / 382 mm on its integrated reel holder. Original Yamaha part numbers are in the KW1-M4500 series, with KW1-M4500-015 the most commonly stocked current variant. Compatible with the full legacy Yamaha YV/YG range and Philips/Assembleon CL-platform machines. Available as original Yamaha or as high-quality compatible clones — both generally interchangeable in service. Service items mirror the rest of the family: press cover, pawl/bird-beak assembly, the larger 24 mm sprocket, the sawtooth pitch ladder, and the take-up reel mechanism.
