7,000 – 8,000 Placement Speed
4 axes (X, Y, Z, R/θ) — AC servo motors with high-speed DSP drivers; double linear motion guides + double ground ball screws on X/Y; max travel 629 × 679 mm; Z stroke 20 mm; rotation ±180° Axes
50 (HW-T4-50F) / 44 (HW-T4-44F) — based on 8 mm electric feeders; also supports pneumatic feeders, vibrating feeders, and IC trays (up to 48 IC tray positions) Feeder Slots

The HW-T4-44/50F Desktop is a high-speed, benchtop SMT pick-and-place machine manufactured by Beijing Huawei Guochuang (HWGC), engineered for prototype runs, small-batch production, and R&D laboratories that need professional-grade placement performance without the footprint or cost of a full inline machine. Despite its compact desktop form factor (1140 × 900 × 900 mm, 210 kg), it delivers production-level throughput of 7,000–8,000 components per hour with a positioning accuracy of 0.01 mm and a repeated mounting accuracy of 0.02 mm.

The machine is built around a rigid steel housing with a transparent safety shield and a pneumatic support bar that stabilizes the PCB during placement. Motion on both X and Y axes is driven by AC servo motors controlled by high-speed DSP drivers, running on double linear motion guides combined with double ground ball screws — an arrangement that minimizes backlash, dampens vibration, and preserves accuracy over long, continuous operation. The working envelope reaches 629 × 679 mm of XY travel, with a 20 mm Z stroke and full ±180° component rotation. Igus flexible cable carriers rated for 10 million cycles ensure reliable signal and power transmission throughout the high-speed motion profile.

Four independent high-accuracy placement heads operate in parallel, each fitted with interchangeable nozzles to handle a wide component mix in a single program. The vision system uses six cameras: one 5 MP distortion-free HD camera for large components and ICs, four 1 MP high-speed cameras dedicated to small-component recognition, and one mark/fiducial camera mounted directly on the placement gantry for PCB alignment. A CKD vacuum generator with integrated high-speed vacuum-burst function controls nozzle pickup and release.

The HW-T4-44/50F handles components from 0201 chips up to 40 × 40 mm BGAs (down to 0.3 mm pitch), including 0402, 0603, 0805, 1206, SOT, SOP, TSOP, LQFP, QFN, lamp beads, and connectors, with a maximum component height of 7 mm. PCB capacity depends on the variant: the 50F accepts boards up to 350 × 190 mm with 50 feeder slots, while the 44FX accepts boards up to 350 × 280 mm with 44 feeder slots (counts based on 8 mm electric feeders). The machine also accommodates pneumatic feeders, vibrating feeders, and IC trays (up to 48 tray positions). PCB transport is three-stage — waiting, mounting, and exit zones — with automatic left-to-right conveyance and electrically adjustable rails.

The system runs on an industrial PC with an Intel processor, 17-inch display, keyboard, and mouse, using HWGC's proprietary Windows-based SMT operating system. The software supports automatic mark-point assignment, automatic pick-and-place program generation from imported PCB coordinate files (CAD/Gerber), and automatic optimization of nozzle and feeder layout — significantly reducing setup time and human error between jobs. Mark positioning can be performed manually or automatically.

The machine runs on a single-phase 220 V, 50/60 Hz supply with an average power draw of roughly 600 W. Air requirements are modest: a clean, dry compressed-air supply of 0.5–0.6 MPa with an oil-water filter (≥50 L) and pressure stabilizer. It is rated for 24-hour non-stop operation and certified to CE, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 standards.

The HW-T4-44/50F Desktop sits in the affordable mid-speed segment, typically priced in the US $8,500–$10,000 range, making it a popular choice for electronics startups, university labs, prototype houses, LED assembly shops, and contract manufacturers running short-to-medium runs. Its combination of four heads, six cameras, servo-driven precision motion, and intelligent programming software gives it capability normally associated with larger floor-standing machines, while the desktop footprint and modular maintenance-friendly design keep installation and ownership costs low.
